This is one of four paintings commissioned for the exhibition  "Passion and Passover" by the Laband Gallery of Loyola University in Los Angeles. 

We are told that in every generation we should understand this story as if it were ourselves that were slaves, ourselves witness to the miracles, ourselves liberated.
The image of this struggle with faith can also be a metaphor for the challenge that confronts artists in undertaking creative work.
